WHAT’S THE LATEST

On July 23, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued a Notice adjusting certain customs user fees and corresponding limitations for Fiscal Year 2026. These fees, adjusted for inflation, will take effect beginning October 1.

WHAT WE KNOW

Under the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act, Public Law 114-94), signed into law on December 4, 2015, certain customs user fees and corresponding limitations must be reviewed and adjusted annually, when necessary, to address inflation.

For Fiscal Year 2026, among other changes, CBP has determined:

  1. The Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) ad valorem rate of 0.3464% will NOT change.
  2. The MPF minimum and maximum for formal entries (class code 499) will change as follows:
    • The minimum will change from $32.71 to $33.58; and
    • The maximum will change from $634.62 to $651.50.
  3. The fee for Informal Entry/Release, automated and not prepared by CBP personnel (class code 311a), will change to $2.69.
