Flights and operations at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport were halted on Saturday 19 October after a large fire broke out at the cargo import area. Although flights have now resumed, significant disruption of customs clearance and the delivery of imported goods is to be expected.
We can confirm that a number of SEKO air freight shipments have been impacted by this incident, but all clients and agents are fully informed. Further updates will be communicated as the situation evolves, and restoration progresses.
To ensure continuity of operations and minimize the disruption to trade, the following temporary measures have been approved:
- Manual Customs Clearance: Customs clearance of import cargo will be conducted manually and the ASYCUDA system is restored on an alternative point at gate no 9.
- Document Submission: Importers and clearing agents are instructed to submit relevant documents physically at the designated customs desks.
- Cargo Delivery Protocol: Cargo delivery will only be permitted after verification and approval by customs officers.
- Stakeholder Cooperation: All stakeholders must strictly adhere to the temporary procedures and cooperate fully with customs officials.
We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this period and can assure you that the SEKO Bangladesh are doing all they can to ensure minimal impact to our clients.
